Proper training is critical in order for employees to do their jobs according to the applicable rules, laws and regulations. The employees of SEMA are qualified in the Canadian Rail Operating Rules. Employees are given a course entitled Rules for the Protection of Track Units and Track Work. They participate fully in a extensive daily job briefing and understand the dangers of working on railway property.
SEMA employees are trained by their Safety Coordinator, Don Steele, a certified Rules instructor with over 36 years of railway experience including 23 years as a rules instructor working throughout Canada.
SEMA has a safety culture in which safety is always at the forefront. This means that every person understands very clearly that safety is the first consideration in any task. We require our management.
